BINH NGUYEN 03 // SAWADA & SCHLES

MY FACES // TOMOKO SAWADA
I think this is one of the shows that I've enjoyed the most on this third gallery tour. While growing up, I've heard countless times of people complaining about how "ALL ASIANS LOOK THE SAME". After seeing how Sawada had chose to photograph herself in these different costumes, I hope that this show will educate and open people's eyes/minds that there are many different characteristics across a race. If people were to care enough, then they would notice the differences and appreciate the beauty behind what they can only see on the surface.

NIGHT WALK // KEN SCHLES

In contrast to Sawada's show, I appreciated Schles' show Night Walk not for its content, but rather for the quality of these images. What I find myself coming back to the most, is the graininess of the of these photographs and how they were lit/processed/developed. Technically, I think this was one of the most well processed set of images and thought the gallery was beautiful! The photographs were very nicely mounted/presented and I loved coffee aroma that fluttered throughout the gallery
